New Publication in Procedia CIRP
Our new paper is out in Procedia CIRP, open access. Daniel Borchert and co-authors from the University of Wuppertal and the German Aerospace Center (DLR) mixed nano-sized ZrO₂ particles into gas-atomized CuCr1Zr powder and processed it by laser beam powder bed fusion. The samples reached relative densities of up to 99.9%, with the oxide particles evenly distributed in the copper matrix. We also found signs of complex oxides containing Zr and Cr, so the particles react with the alloying elements during processing. Compression tests up to 425 °C did not yet show a clear strengthening effect, which makes these particle-matrix interactions the key question for high-temperature performance.
